(1) China Mobile acquires China Railway Communication (Tietong). (2) China Telecom, China's main fixed-line carrier, buys a mobile network from China United Telecommunications, Unicom's parent company, and the rest of Unicom is merged into fixed-line China Network Communications Group Corp., Netcom's parent, and (3) the remaining carrier, China Satellite Communications Corp. is acquired by China Telecommunications.
